It is 2 pm, back-to-back meetings, and you have not eaten since breakfast. You order whatever arrives fastest, or snack on biscuits from the drawer, and you get home in the evening starving. If that sounds familiar, the problem is not that you do not care about food. The problem is that there is no food ready when you need it.
What makes a good work lunch?
A work lunch has two jobs: keep you full until the end of the day, and not make you sleepy an hour later. Harvard's Healthy Eating Plate gives a simple rule:
- Half the plate vegetables and fruit.
- A quarter protein: chicken, fish, beef, legumes.
- A quarter whole grains or starches: rice, freekeh, potatoes.
You do not have to be perfect every day. What matters is real protein, not just a snack.
Three realistic approaches
1. Prepare the night before: cook a bigger dinner and take the leftovers. Simple and cheap, but it only works if you actually cooked dinner.
2. Cook once a week: prepare 4–5 boxes on your day off. Saves time during the week, but costs hours of your weekend and the same dish keeps coming back.
3. Ready meals delivered home: they can arrive twice a week, go into the fridge, and each morning you take one. No cooking, and every meal lists calories and protein.
There is no single right way. Many people mix approaches depending on the week.
If there is a microwave at work
- Take the meal from the fridge in the morning and keep it cold until you heat it, for example in a cooler bag or the office fridge.
- Heat it following the instructions on the pack.
- Bring water and a piece of fruit for the afternoon instead of the vending machine.
What does it cost?
The base price is ₪44.90 per meal, going down to ₪38.61 per meal when you order 18 meals or more. Delivery is ₪39 per order, with a ₪10 surcharge for some towns. A full work week (5 lunches) in one order has a clear price upfront, so you can compare it with what you spend today on random takeaway.
Start with one week
- Count how many days you are at the office this week.
- Choose a delivery day: Sunday or Wednesday.
- Pick meals with enough protein and flavours you like, and mix them up.
- Keep the meals in the fridge and take one each morning.
The meals for long working days page has meals chosen for work, and the menu lists every nutrition fact. We deliver to many towns in the North and Center; check the delivery areas.
Want to try? The menu lists calories and protein for every meal.
